Visiting restaurants is far more common among males than females; 36% females claim they have never eaten at a restaurant.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 36% Pakistani women never eat at restaurants, while 18% Pakistani men never eat at restaurants. 

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “Please tell us, how frequently you take part in such activities: Eating at other restaurants?” In response to this question, 6% respondents said they eat at restaurants almost daily, 10% respondents said they eat at restaurants one to three times per week, 20% visit restaurants one to three times per month, while 37% respondents eat at restaurants rarely and 26% said that they never eat at restaurants. 1% respondents did not respond.

According to the gender breakdown, Pakistani men eat at restaurants more than women with 36% female respondents saying that they never eat at restaurants. Among male respondents, 5% said they eat at restaurants almost daily, 9% said they eat at restaurants one to three times per week, 24% visit restaurants one to three times per month, while 44% said they eat at restaurants rarely and 18% said that they never eat at restaurants. Among female respondents, 6% said they eat at restaurants almost daily, 12% said they eat at restaurants one to three times per week, 16% visit restaurants one to three times per month, 29% said they eat at restaurants rarely, while 36% said that they never eat at restaurants, and 1% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1745 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during April 13- April 20, 2015. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
