More than half Pakistanis claim to have seen, heard or read about the advertisement by Government of Pakistan about the lowest inflation rate in a decade.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 53% Pakistanis said they have seen, heard or read about the Government of Pakistan advertisement; 47% have not.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “These days, an advertisement by the Government of Pakistan is being shown or heard through newspapers and media channels with the title, “Whenever Nawaz Sharif’s party has come in power, the inflation has gone down”. According to the advertisement, inflation rate has been the lowest at 2.3% for the first time as compared to the last ten years. Please tell us if you had the chance to see, hear or read anything about this advertisement?” In response to this question, 53% respondents said they have seen, heard or read anything about the advertisement by the Government of Pakistan about the lowest inflation rate (2.3%) in a decade and Nawaz Sharif’s past record regarding inflation. On the other hand, 47% respondents said they have not seen, heard or read anything about this advertisement.

Bilal Gilani, Executive Director at Gallup Pakistan, adds: “This figure translates into about 45 million adult (18+) men and women claiming to have read, heard or watched the specific campaign. The numbers are healthy as compared to similar campaigns and show an efficient communication strategy by the government.” 

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1691 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during April 06- April 13, 2015. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
