According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, only 21% Pakistanis claim they can drive a car.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “Please tell us, can you drive yourself?” In response, 21% respondents said they can drive cars, 73% said they cannot drive cars and 6% did not respond. According to the Gender breakdown, 34% among men said they can drive, while 59% said they cannot drive and 7% did not respond. Among women, an overwhelming 93% said they cannot drive, while 2% said they can drive and 5% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2562 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during November 24 – December 01, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
