Mixed opinions about Javed Hashmi’s political future.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 56% Pakistanis believe that Javed Hashmi should retire from politics; 43% believe that he should take part in next elections. 

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “Javed Hashmi lost in the by-elections conducted recently in National Assembly’s constituency 149.  Some people think that Javed Hashmi should retire from politics after the defeat, while others think that he should take part in future elections. What is your opinion about this?” In response, 56% respondents said that he should retire from politics, while 43% said that he should take part in next elections and 1% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2579 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during October 20 – October 27, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
