57% Pakistanis know their blood group; 25% have donated blood. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 57% Pakistanis know their blood group; 25% have donated blood.

A nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “Do you know your blood group?” Responding to this, 57% said yes whereas 43% replied no.

People were further asked: “Have you ever donated blood?” 25% of the respondents said yes compared to 75% who replied no. 1% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2629 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during Jan 20, 2014 – Jan 27, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
