According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 32% Pakistanis say employment opportunities are an effective way to reduce rich/poor divide in Pakistan.
A nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “In your opinion, what is the most effective way to reduce the rich/poor divide in Pakistan?” Responding to this, 32% said employment opportunities, 24% said a better Zakat system and 19% replied increasing the salary of the working class. 10% were of the opinion that providing free quality education to the poor will reduce the divide, 9% said the same about giving charity and 5% mentioned community schemes. 1% said none.

The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2629 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during Jan 20, 2014 – Jan 27, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
