50% Pakistanis opine their views about America have worsened after the drone strike that killed Hakimullah Mehsud. 13% say their views about USA have improved. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 50% Pakistanis opine their views about America have worsened after the drone strike that killed Hakimullah Mehsud. 13% say their views about USA have improved.

A nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “Please tell us that after Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s leader Hakimullah Mehsud’s death has your opinion about America improved, worsened or has there been no difference?” Responding to this, 13% said their opinion has improved while 50% claimed it to have worsened; for 36% there was no difference, 1% did not respond

The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2533 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during November 10, 2013 – Nov 16, 2013.  Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
