55% Pakistanis believe that Eastern society is more respectful towards women. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 55% Pakistanis believe that Eastern society is more respectful towards women.

A nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “In your opinion, which society respects women more – the Western society or Eastern society or both equally?” Responding to this, 16% said Western society, 55% said Eastern society and 22% said both societies. 7% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2577 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during October 28, 2013 – Nov 04, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
