According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 41% Pakistanis consulted doctors in the past month because of illness or injury.
A nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “During the past month, did you consult doctors because of illness or injury?” Responding to this, 41% said yes, 58% said no and 1% did not respond.
A comparison between urban and rural population revealed that 43% of the urban population consulted a doctor because of illness and injury, compared to 39% of rural population. A comparison between men and women did not reveal a big difference. 41% of males said they consulted a doctor compared to 40% of females.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2655 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during Sep 09, 2013 – Sep 16, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
