40% Pakistani youth say they would like to go abroad. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 40% Pakistani youth say they would like to go abroad.

A nationally representative sample of men and women, under the age of 30, from across the four provinces was asked “Would you like to go abroad?” Responding to this, 40% said that they would like to go abroad whereas 59% said that they would not. 1% did not respond.

Interestingly, when these 40% youth willing to go abroad were asked about their favorite destination in terms of countries, Saudi Arabia was mentioned by around one-fourth.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1107 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during July 21, 2013 – July 27, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
