23% Pakistani men say that if they could be a sportsman, they would choose to play cricket. Interestingly, wrestling came as second popular game. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 23% Pakistani men say that if they could be a sportsman, they would choose to play cricket. Interestingly, wrestling came as second popular game.

A nationally representative sample of men from across the four provinces was asked “Suppose you could be a sportsman, which one of the following would you like to become?” Responding to this, 23% said cricketer, 11% said tennis player and 17% said wrestler. 17% said they would not like to be a sportsman, 25% said others and 7% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1446 men in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during August 12, 2013 – August 19, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
