According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 48% of Pakistanis have 3 meals a day.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “How many times do you eat in a day?” Responding to this, 48% said thrice, 43% said twice, 8% said once and 1% said more than three times a day.
A comparison between rural and urban localities shows that more urban respondents eat three meals a day (56%) compared with rural respondents (44%). Similarly, more women (53%) eat three times a day compared with men (43%).

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2661 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during June 10, 2013 – June 17, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
