44% of Pakistanis support the decision of ex-President Pervez Musharraf to take part in politics. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN


Islamabad, April 19, 2013

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 44% of Pakistanis support the decision of ex-President Pervez Musharraf to take part in politics.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Recently, ex-President Pervez Musharraf returned to Pakistan and took part in politics. Do you support or oppose this decision?” Responding to this, 54% said they oppose this decision and 44% said they support it. However, 2% did not give a response.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2617 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during March 30, 2013 – April 06, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
