63% of Pakistanis prefer rain over sunshine. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN


Islamabad, March 26, 2013

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 63% of Pakistanis prefer rain over sunshine.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Personally do you like rain or sunshine?” Responding to this, 63% said rain and 32% said sunshine. However, 5% did not give a response.

Interestingly, more women (67%) prefer rain than men (59%). Comparison between provinces shows that people in KPK like rain the most from amongst the four provinces (75%), followed by Sindh (68%), Punjab (62%) and lastly Balochistan (21%).

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2659 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during February 18, 2013 – February 25, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
