Pakistani views are divided about whether the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue has increased (36%) or decreased (34%). GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, Pakistani views are divided about whether the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue has increased (36%) or decreased (34%).
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Some people think during the past 5 years the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue has decreased, while some disagree. What is your opinion on this?” Responding to this, 36% said importance has increased, 34% said importance has decreased and 25% said the level of importance is the same. However, 5% did not give a response.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2677 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during November 18, 2012 – November 25, 2012. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
