Pakistanis think Polio Drops are also a cure against five other diseases other than Polio. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN


Islamabad, November 14, 2012
According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, Pakistanis think Polio Drops are also a cure against five other diseases other than Polio.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Of the following diseases, which do you think Polio drops can protect against?” Responding to this, 93% said ‘Polio’, 55% said ‘Tetanus (Meningitis)’, 53% said ‘Measles’, 52% said ‘Cough’, 50% said ‘Chicken Pox’ and 50% said ‘Tuberculosis’. It is interesting to note that 7% of Pakistanis do not think Polio Drops are a cure for even the Polio virus.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2654 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during September 30, 2012 – October 01, 2012. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
