Majority of Pakistanis (79%) have heard or read about the attack on Malala Yousafzai’s life. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN


Islamabad, November 15, 2012
According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, majority of Pakistanis (79%) have heard or read about the attack on Malala Yousafzai’s life.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In recent days, National Peace Award winner and activist for Peace and Education, Malala Yousafzai from Swat was seriously injured in an attack on her life. Have you heard/read about this incident?” Responding to this, 79% said yes and 21% said no.

Question: “In recent days, National Peace Award winner and activist for Peace and Education, Malala Yousafzai from Swat was seriously injured in an attack on her life. Have you heard/read about this incident?”

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2660 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during October 21, 2012 – October 22, 2012. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
