Majority (98%) of Pakistanis (with at least one child under 5 years of age) said their children were given polio drops during the last one year. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN


Islamabad, November 13, 2012
According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, majority (98%) of Pakistanis (with at least one child under 5 years of age) said their children were given polio drops during the last one year. This question was only asked from people who had children under the age of 5 years.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In the past one year, during any polio campaign, has your child or any child in your household been given polio drops?” Responding to this, 98% said yes and 2% said no.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1234 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during September 30, 2012 – October 01, 2012. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
