Household chores, resting to relax and watching TV are top 3 leisure time activities of Pakistani Women. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN


Islamabad, October 25, 2012 
According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, household chores, resting to relax and watching TV are top 3 leisure time activities of Pakistani Women.

A nationally representative sample of women from across the four provinces was asked “What do you do in your spare time? What is your hobby?” Responding to this, 27% said ‘do household chores’, 26% said ‘resting to relax’, 23% said ‘watch TV’, 10% said ‘stitching’, 6% said ‘reading’, 5% said ‘visit friends’ and 3% said ‘other activities.’ 

Question: “What do you do in your spare time? What is your hobby?”

COMPARATIVE DATA FOR MEN AND WOMEN


The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1294 women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during October 07, 2012 – October 13, 2012. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
