Majority (63%) has lost hope in the governments’ ability to deal with energy shortages; 24% express modest hope while 7% are very hopeful. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, majority (63%) has lost hope in the governments’ ability to deal with energy shortages; 24% express modest hope while 7% are very hopeful.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In your opinion, how many chances are there that the current government will be able to take the country out of the energy crisis?” Responding to this, 7% are hopeful about the governments’ ability to deal with the energy crisis, 23% are modest hopefuls whereas 63% have no hope in the governments’ ability to deal with the energy crisis. However 6% did not give a view.

Question: “In your opinion, how many chances are there that the current government will be able to take the country out of the energy crisis?”

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2693 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during April 01 - April 07, 2012. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
