A Substantial Majority of Pakistan (81%) Views Hepatitis B/C As An Important Health Problem; 14 % People Think It Is Somewhat Important; 2 % Think It Is Not At All Important: GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN

A recent Gilani Research Foundation survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan indicated that 81 % of Pakistanis see Hepatitis B/ C as an important health problem. However, an alarming figure of 14 % said that the disease was somewhat important whereas 2 % said it is not at all important.

In a survey, a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces were asked the following question: “In your view, how important is Hepatitis B/C as a health problem for Pakistan?” 81 % of the respondents were aware that it is very important as a health problem for Pakistan. 14 % replied that it is somewhat important and 2 % people state it is not at all important. 3 % gave no response. The fact that 19% of the population was ambivalent on the gravity of this disease suggests that there is still a lack of awareness about Hepatitis B/C.
