Results of a recent Gilani Poll conducted by Gallup Pakistan show that most Pakistanis are satisfied with their team’s performance in the recently concluded Cricket World Cup, with a total of 50% rating the Pakistani team’s performance as good or very good. 22% feel Shahid Afridi did very well as Captain in the World Cup while another 33% rate his captaincy as good. In a survey, a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the country were asked the following question: “In your opinion, how was the Pakistani cricket team’s performance in the World Cup?” Fifteen percent (15%) rate the Pakistani team’s performance as very good while another 35% think their performance was good. More than a fourth of the respondents said the team’s performance was average (29%) while 8% said it was bad and another 8% found it to have been very bad.
No significant differences were seen in the opinions of Pakistanis from different demographic categories.
“In your opinion, how was the Pakistani cricket team’s performance in the World Cup?”
Respondents were further asked the following question, "In your opinion, how was Shahid Afridi’s performance as Captain during the World Cup?” The results show that 55% respondents are happy with Afridi’s captaincy, with 22% rating it as very good and another 33% saying it was good. While 28% of the respondents said that his performance as Captain of the team was Average, 8% found it bad and 2% said it was very bad.
It was again seen that there was no significant difference of opinion in this regard across different demographics.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2745 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during April 2011. Error margin is estimated to be approximately + 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
